Pair of letters/reports from Confederate Militia General Absalom Madden West, both autograph letters signed, on 4to leaves. * Letter to V. W. Wilson Esq. of Vicksburg, Mississippi, dated August 1st 1862. The letter details the suffering of residents in the area due to the bombardment and fighting around Vicksburg, and West requests provisions for those who were made destitute. Signed A. M. West. 1 pg., some oxidizing of ink, large stain to right side. * Letter to Col. A[braham] C[harles] Meyers, Quartermaster General, Confederate States of America, Richmond, VA. Dated March 2, 1863. 1 pg. Requesting reimbursement to the state, which paid his troops while awaiting the payments Meyers had previously ordered. The payments ordered by Meyers had met with "unavoidable delays." Signed A. M. West. Some staining. Refer to photos, pair of items, as-is.
