RARE RUSSIAN CARVED AGATE FIGURINE of GOLDFISH
Realistically carved agate goldfish with RUBY eyes set in GOLD.
CONDITION: The item is described to the best of our knowledge. Please refer to pictures and email with any questions.
DIMENSIONS: L. 3 inches (8 cm).

LOT NOTES: Some of FABERGE's most charming miniature carved figures of animals are made from highly-figured agates often found in Russia's Ural Mountains. Stones were carefully selected so as to enliven the tiny creatures; the coloring of the stone suggesting the natural variations in fur, feathers, or hide. When combined with the lively and expressive carving, the variations from red to brown to grey add a convincing realism to this figure of a goldfish.

He's the founder of the famous jewelry legacy House of FABERGE. The House of FABERGE is a jewelry firm founded in 1842 in St. Petersburg, Imperial Russia, by Gustav FABERGE, using the accented name FABERGE, Gustav's sons Peter Carl FABERGE and Agathon FABERGE, and grandsons followed him in running the business until it was nationalized by the Bolsheviks in 1918.
