American - 1895 - 18" Diameter Excellent Condition & Patina Watch-shaped trade signs are often set to 8:18 pm. It has been spuriously suggested that this was the very hour that Lincoln was shot at Ford's Theater. However, the explanation is actually a lot more mundane. Setting the watch hands to 8:18 provides a significant blank area on the clock face for advertising to be written.
