Autograph letter, signed by Fillmore to President of the Mechanics and Farmers Bank, Thomas W. Olcott. Creasing from original folds; pinhole at center top. Lot includes a certificate for 40 shares of the Albany & Schenectady Rail-Road Co. made out to Fillmore, as well as an engraved portrait of Fillmore.Thirteenth President Millard Fillmore writes to the President of the Mechanics and Farmers Bank in Albany, New York, Thomas W. Olcott, regarding railroad bonds: "In June last, Mr. J.M. Garrison of N.Y. wrote me that you have had some first mortgage 7 per cent Bonds on the Cleveland, Columbus & Cincinnati R.R. Co. which you wished to dispose of as a 1 per cent premium. I expect to want a $1000-bond of that kind on the 1st of March. Can you let me have it, and at what rate?"
