This original illustration, titled "Cops at Ease in the Muster Room of a Station," accompanied the article Nineteen Thousand Cops published in the July 1939 issue of Fortune Magazine. This issue was dedicated to the city of New York and included a total of ten paintings by Riggs for this article on New York City's police department. This illustration is published in The Lithographs of Robert Riggs by Ben Bassham (p. 44).
