Document granting permission to practice law in the Texas courts to William R. Jones. Signed by clerk of the court Thomas Green (later a General in the Confederate Army), Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court John Hemphill, and Associate Justices Abner S. Lipscomb and Royal T. Wheeler (later Chief Justice). All three of these Justices have Texas counties named in their honor.
