Description
A Chimu Ceremonial Staff Peru, c. 700-1100 AD Hardwood with open lattice carving at the hollow top with rattles inside. A Classic Chimu face carved below the hollow section. At top are two diving marine birds facing one another with their beaks pointed down, they support a rectilinear superstructure with four vasiforms at top. In excellent, rare condition for a large wood object from ancient Peru.
