A contemporary Porter Garden Telescope made by Telescopes of VT, a powerful telescope for stargazing or simply admiring the view. It is a beautiful and unusual bronze sculpture, a work of art for your garden, terrace or roof deck, that also works as a sundial. A limited number of these exist, including one in the Smithsonian. This elegant garden telescope was originally created in the early 1920s by Russell Porter, designer of the Palomar Mountain Observatory 200 inch Hale Telescope. Only a few of these antique reflecting telescopes have survived. Today, Telescopes of Vermont is lavishly and faithfully recreating The Porter Garden Telescope in hand-finished cast bronze, with improved 21st century optics. This model includes a marble pedestal and table top plinth for display in the home, or garden. Bronze 33”H x 13”W - 65”H overall on white marble stand. Verdigris surface, this model was displayed outside in a garden with excellent care given to the optics, informational documents are stored in a protective case.
