With a number of the prints signed in-negatives by Frith; mostly dated 1857. This handsome set displaying remarkably rich tonal range. Pioneering photographer Francis Frith made three visits to Egypt and the Holy Land from 1856 to 1859; with his photographs being published in various editions by James S. Virtue, William Mackenzie, and Negretti and Zambra, between 1858 and 1863. Frith worked in two formats; the smaller one represented here.
