Description
An oil painting on canvas depicting a male portrait after the original oil painting on canvas, Man with a Thistle, Self Portrait, 1946, by Lucian Michael Freud, English, German, 1922 to 2011. Framed. The original painting belongs to a series of self-portraits painted by Freud in the 1940s. Freud worked in a realistic, but very emblematic style, genetically linked to the pictorial tradition of the Northern Renaissance masters. In this self portrait, the artist depicted himself looking out the window; in the foreground on a ledge lies a thistle leaf, the aggressive and dynamic shape of which seems to cut the plane of the window sill. That is, with the help of this plant the artist gives the picture a special mood, and also demonstrates his own psychological state. Lucian Michael Freud was a British painter and draughtsman, specialising in figurative art, and is known as one of the foremost 20th century English portraitists. Master of psychological portrait. He was one of the highest paid contemporary artists. Modern and Contemporary English Fine Art, Realist Oil Paintings, Wall Art, and Collectibles. One of a kind artwork.
