Description
De Courcy Lewthwaite Dewar (attributed), a Glasgow School Arts and Crafts copper and enamelled tea caddy, the heptagonal section shouldered pot with waisted cylindrical neck, planished, the circular lid painted with radiating leaves and white flowers, highlighted in gilt, on a red woven ground, 12cm high Note: born in 1878, Dewar studied at the Glasgow School of Art where she worked alongside Jessie King and Peter Davidson amongst others. Many of her designs were illustrated in the Studio Yearbooks during the 1900s through to the 1920s, featuring bold enamelled designs similar to the one on this caddy.
