Small Archive of Family-Owned Photographic Portraits.
Seven black-and-white portraits of Gilman taken at various times in her life, including a cabinet card identified on verso in CPG's hand that was taken when she was twenty-four; an oval portrait in a folding folder from about the same period ("CPG prior '89" in pencil on verso of folder); a stunning portrait from mid-life taken and signed by photographer Pearl Grace Loehr (b. 1882); a small cabinet card taken by the "Chic" Fotographer on 6th Avenue in New York; a real photo postcard featuring a small oval portrait likely (these two likely taken when Gilman was in her fifties and bear the sitter's initials in her hand in pencil on the backs); a black-and-white family snapshot of an older Gilman with gray hair; [and] an 8 3/4 x 6 1/2 in. black-and-white family grouping that includes CPG, her husband George Houghton Gilman (1867-1934), and her two grandchildren, Dorothy Stetson Chamberlin (1918-1993) and Walter Stetson Chamberlin (b. 1920), taken in August of 1927, dated on verso, with subjects identified in CPG's hand with a note on the enlargement of the print.
