Description
A late 1997 Guild JF55-12 12-string acoustic guitar, serial #AJ520272, in natural finish. This is a custom-made 12-string copy of the famous Guild six-string guitar played by Canadian singer/songwriter Bryan Adams on his 1997 MTV Unplugged session.
This Guild JF55-12 12-string guitar was custom-bult by Guild and given to Adams, which he donated to a 2012 charity auction benefitting Music Rising. It features a 25.5” scale length mahogany neck with a bound 20 fret ebony fretboard with block inlays of mother of pearl and abalone. The headstock has 12 gold-plated Grover tuners, mother of pearl Guild inlays, and multi-ply binding.
The body has a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, an ebony bridge, and an abalone rosette. Both the top and back are surrounded by multi-ply binding. Black plastic pickguard. The guitar has been modified to accept a gold Bigsby B-12 vibrato just like Adams’ famous Unplugged six-string Guild acoustic. The twelve bridge pin holes have been filled and are difficult to see in normal lighting conditions. The guitar has an under-saddle pickup system.
Includes original Guild hardshell case with black exterior and red interior. Also included with this exceptional guitar are a promotional poster for Adams’ Unplugged special, backstage passes, and the tour book.
PROVENANCE: Julien's Auctions Icons & Idols Rock n' Roll Auction, December 1, 2012, Lot 213
