A "straight jacket" worn and signed by Motley Crue co-founder and bassist, Nikki Sixx, in the photoshoot for the band's fifth studio album Dr. Feelgood.

The white elastic "straight jacket" features silver-tone hardware, a black leather lace-up back, and painted text that reads "State Mental Hospital" across the front and "Ward D" on the armband. The jacket is signed by Sixx in black ink across the front. No size or labels present.

The straight jacket was designed by costume designer, Terri King, who provided the tour wardrobe for Motley Crue's 1989-1990 Dr. Feelgood World Tour as well as the album's cover, which featured SIxx wearing the straight jacket offered in this lot.

Accompanied by a signed Letter of Authenticity from King in which she shares: "As is sometimes usual in the world of custom rock n' roll fashion, design and prep time is often short, and the Dr. Feelgood album photo shoot was no different. I created the patterns for the straight jackets and the straight jackets themselves virtually overnight, in part by employing a technique I developed and still use to this day; the layering of elastic, which provides the clothing texture, as well as stretch (which was needed in the case of the Dr. Feelgood album shoot, as the small time frame didn't allow to size the band). In all, size straight jackets were created, and the members of Motley Crue tried all on in order to ascertain the best personal fit for each. As for the stenciling of the words 'Drx' on the straight jackets themselves, this was done on the fly while the band was "in make up" and in between shots, which is why some of the photos from that shoot feature stencling on the straight jackets, and others do not."
