A late 1960s Micro-Frets Signature solid body electric guitar, serial #2728, in a cherry red finish. Owned and played by Randy Bachman, who has sold 40 million records worldwide as a member of The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and as a solo artist. Randy associates this model with Grand Funk’s Mark Farner, who used the model on stage throughout the ‘70s.

Micro-Frets was a Maryland-based brand established in the 1960s which produced unique guitar designs that featured forward-thinking hardware like the adjustable Calibrato vibrato system (as seen on this example) and the Micro-Nut which allows for precise intonation at the nut instead of only at the bridge, also present. These features were ahead of their time upon release, and sadly didn’t catch on with players and techs of the day. Today’s more modern, envelope-pushing builders and players would adore these innovations.

Guitar is in very good condition, with all of its original plastics and hardware intact. Maple neck with a 21 fret rosewood fingerboard, Micro-nut, and dot position marker inlays. Body is finished in cherry red with white pickups and pickguards. The pickups and electronics have a punchy, bold sound and are fully functional. The Calibrato operates smoothly and dependably.
