Description
A genuine Liberty Head $5 gold coin, also known as the Half Eagle, was minted by the United States from 1839 to 1908. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, it features a left-facing bust of Lady Liberty adorned with a coronet inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." On the reverse, an eagle with outstretched wings is depicted, surrounded by a wreath and inscriptions denoting its denomination and the nation of origin. This specific piece is dated 1880 and was minted in San Francisco on a 90% pure gold planchet. Sold ungraded, with the actual gold weight measuring approximately .2418 troy ounces.
