Latin America, Mexico, Oaxaca, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A wonderful sculpture of a winged dragon with the face of a demon, all hand-carved from copal wood and elaborately painted in vibrant hues. Size: 31.3" L x 17.6" W x 18" H (79.5 cm x 44.7 cm x 45.7 cm)

Condition
Wings have been reattached and are now detachable. Missing one toe of proper left foot and some spikes have been professionally repaired with break lines visible. Some small areas of old, inactive insect holes. Chips, nicks, and abrasions as shown, but otherwise nice remaining detail and great pigments. Tied with rope for suspension.
