Description
Oil on canvas laid board painting depicting Fort Snelling, Mendota, and Pike Island, 1871. Several figures in the foreground work on breaking ground for locomotive or railroad tracks. After Alfred Sederberg (Swedish/American, 1830-1877). Signed P.E. Charlson and dated along the lower left.

Condition
No visible cracks, losses, or restoration under UV light. There is an uneven surface to the upper left quadrant and to the upper right quadrant. Along the upper margin, there are brown accretions, possibly water damage. To the upper right quadrant, there are two lines of stretches. Along the right margin, there is a light discoloration, possibly against the frame. Wear to the frame. Light wear to the verso.
