Description
A Philadelphia Queen Anne Mahogany Tilt-Top Candlestand, Mid 18th Century. Of fine proportions; the circular one board dished-top with birdcage action support above a tapered ring-turned pedestal with carved wafer and ball, raised on a tripod base with cabriole legs, terminating in pad feet.
Dimensions: Height 29 1/4in; diameter of top 23in.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.
Condition
Structurally sound. Retaining an old untouched and dark surface. The top having approximately 1/2" of shrinkage. The dish-top with scattered, chips, nicks, fleabites, small losses and an old glued break. Lacking the mahogany wedge that holds the top tight inside the birdcage to the central support. Otherwise honest condition.
