Description
Charles Sykes (1875-1950), gilt bronze sculpture of the 'Spirit of Ecstasy', Rolls-Royce, H 69 cm
The 'Spirit of Ecstasy' is the name of the mascot that has graced the radiator grille of the Rolls-Royce since 1911. The mascot is a design by Charles Sykes, based on actress and model Eleanor Thornton. As on the original 1911 design, those same graceful draperies, elegant style and angelic features are faithfully preserved in this highly-detailed and hand-finished Limited Edition of the Rolls-Royce' Spirit of Ecstasy' Showroom Statues.
With the approach of the 100th anniversary of the creation of Charles Sykes' legendary mascot design, a limited edition of 50 statues of the Rolls-Royce' Spirit of Ecstasy' Showroom Statues was created.

Standing 69 cm high with a wingspan of 36 cm, this exquisitely detailed sculpture has been created using an original 1930s Rolls-Royce showroom statuette as a key point of reference. The model's draperies and skin tones have received particular sympathetic treatment, and the concave base has a distinctive and very attractive textured finish with delicate cross-hatching, highlighting the original signature.
