Description
A Burmese sapphire and diamond brooch, early 20th century, set with a circular cut sapphire estimated as 1.85ct, and a pear cut sapphire estimated as 2.20ct, in a claw setting, within an open work frame with graduating old mine and old single cut diamonds, collet and bead set to millegrain edges. Unmarked mount tested as platinum. Later brooch fittings with pin and lever catch. A verbal report by GCS no.5784-1855, states the sapphires are natural with no indications of heat treatment. Origin: Burma (Myanmar) 4.38g Condition Report: Probably converted from the lower drop of a larger brooch or different jewel. The sapphires are nicely saturated, of periwinkle blue colour. The pear cut sapphire has a cavity on one of the pavillion facets, likely a negative crystal.
