Henry Morgenthau, Sr. (1856-1946) served as the United States Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire during World War I, under the President T. Woodrow Wilson, had a successful career as a lawyer, real estate investor and the leader of the Reform Jewish community in New York.
This work by Morgenthau is the definitive account of the Armenian Genocide during the last years of the Ottoman Empire, as well as his views on creation of a Jewish State.
His son, Henry Morgenthau Jr. served as the Secretary of the Treasury for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. His grandson, Robert M. Morgenthau, would serve as the District Attorney for Manhattan for 35 years.
