Antique Chinese Women's Informal Embroidered Silk Robe with Floral Decoration Including Insects, Late Qing Dynasty
For your consideration is a turn of the 20th Century Chinese women's embroidered silk robe. The foundation of the lined robe is a deep blue silk with sparse damask dragon roundels and is accented with ample embroidered floral decorations complete with insects (grasshoppers, butterflies and praying mantis). The front opening, lower edges and side vents are accented by a cream colored silk ruyi border that is fully embroidered to include Peking Knot / Forbidden Stitch. The round collar is composed of a cream colored silk embroidered with several auspicious cranes in flight while the sleeves meticulously embroidered with vibrant butterflies. Borders of robes embroidered with gold thread embellishments. The robe measures 52" (132cm) from sleeve to sleeve and is 48" (122cm) in total length.

Condition
Please use all images as addendum to condition statement. The garment itself is in stable condition though the collar is tattered, loose and somewhat fragile. There are small losses, marks and holes over the body of the garment but embroidery is in overall good condition. The lining has protected the integrity of the foundation of the garment. Garment can be handled without further damage if stored correctly and handled appropriately. Condition reports and additional photographs are provided by request as a courtesy to our clients.
