MEMOIRS OF THE WAR IN THE SOUTHERN DEPARTMENT OF THE UNITED STATES, HENRY LEE, 1827, Printed by Peter Force. 2nd Edition, with index. Henry Lee was the father of Robert E. Lee, confederate general in the Civil War. Henry Lee was a prominent figure in the Continental Army and United States Army. Includes Henry's recollections of the Revolutionary War, along with short biographies and reprints of documents related to war in the appendix. Light staining throughout book, and scratches on the cover. Gilding on the spine is slightly worn, but still very bright and legible. Within book, an 1825 check from a Mr. E. Fuller to Samuel Lovering, dated to July 22nd, 1825. Book is 466 pages.
