Description
Attributed to John Constable (English, 1776-1837). "Hampstead Heath". Oil on board. Sight: 8 3/8" x 10 5/8". Frame: 13 3/4" x 16 1/8". Attributed to John Constable, oil on board sketch of a landscape scene with a storm brewing in the background. Central figure approaches a cow in a stream of water. The composition appears to be unsigned. The reverse of the panel has a label from Phillips. Written on the back of the panel: "Constable, John / Hampstead Heath" with measurements, and "Sketch by Constable from possession of M. Glass". Painting has not been verified in any way to be by the hand of John Constable.
