Item Details
Description
1970 Ford Ranchero GT. VIN: 0A48N192008. Ford built Rancheros for 22 years, 1957-79. During that period over a half million were sold. They evolved over seven generations. Starting out, they were built on 2-door Ranch Wagon bones and offered a six cylinder or small block 272 or 292 engine. In the 1960's recession years they shrink down to Falcon size. In the late 60's things began to change again and by the Fifth Generation, 1970-71 things started to get interesting. This 1970 "bad boy" is RARE! It was one of the most interesting. Of the 21,640 Rancheros built in 1970, only 3,900 were GTs. And it was one of just 296 built with the 429 Cobra Jet Ram-air engines and the C-6 auto trans. But there's more about this one that's special. It's a true survivor. The Marti report, included(see images), helps tell that story. It was sold new at Cecil Whitebone Inc., in San Francisco. Whitebone's Ford/ Mercury Midtown Motors dated back to the 1940's. The Ranchero stayed in CA until 2019.The car selling at auction is a true survivor. Coming from California helped it survive. It has original body, (with minor bruises) and original Ivy Green paint. The interior has original recovered bucket seats and console. Most were bench seats. Updates include completely rebuilt 429 370hp engine, 3 row Derale performance radiator w/adjustable fan relay. For braking, there's a hydraulic booster & master cylinder conversion, vacuum booster removed. Electric hidden headlight conversion replaced the vacuum system. Has the rare horizontal rotating Tach option in the instrument cluster. The original factory build sheet is also included. But there's even more. This Ranchero is a true "Sleeper". Drive it like it is and enjoy the bumped and bruised-looking skin with the beast under the hood! Or, you could rebuild it to perfection. This auction makes that a lot easier. Many, maybe all the parts needed, will also sell. Car comes with history/build book.
