Description
Description Lithograph of a mother holding her child by Kathe Kollwitz ( 1867 -1945 ). Visible art measures 10.5 x 14 inches. Chrome frame 15 x 20 inches. About the artist: Kathe Kollwitz July 8, 1867-April 22, 1945. German-born and brought up in an environment of great political and religious significance. As an adult, she lived in a working-class district of Berlin. Kollwitz developed a strong social conscience, expressing herself and her life experiences through her poignant art. The loss of a son in World War I and a Grandson in World War II, gave passion to her art and life to her subjects; commonly being about war and helping others become aware of the terrible costs of armed conflicts.
