DESCRIPTION: An amazing 24 x 30 original oil painting by well listed American artist Joseph Sheppard. It shows one of the most important moments in the history of sports. This is the ending of the world heavyweight championship boxing title fight held in 1964 between then champ Sonny Liston and challenger Cassius Clay. Liston was considered the most dangerous heavyweight champ ever and a huge favorite against an unproven Clay. Clay used his speed and footwork to confuse and frustrate Liston. Clay dominated round 6 and Liston's corner called in the doctor and stopped the fight before the beginning of round 7. This moment is when Clay realizes that he has become the new heighvyweight champion. He runs to the ropes and screams "I shocked the world", and many other things This is the beginning of the long story of Cassius Clay soon to be known as Muhammad Ali. The Greatest of All Time. Condition
Excellent untouched original condition. A few tiny pinpoint spots of paint loss, but no damage or restoration. Overall this is exactly the way you want to find a vintage oil painting. We have provided excellent hi-res photos so you can judge condition for yourself. The original period frame has some slight surface abrasions but overall is in very fine shape.
