Description
1948 Packard Super 8 Victoria Convertible. Packard promoted the 1948 Super 8 as "A new performance thrill awaits the buyers of the spirited Super Eight, the motor car that makes distances disappear!" The company sold over 4700 of this model its first year which for the time was impressive. A 288ci, 145 hp inline 8 cylinder engine powers this "spirited" Packard which is all original except for the seat covers. Daryl Hemken purchased the car in 1966 following the publication of a newspaper article about his collection. A reader in Aberdeen, South Dakota contacted Daryl that he had a '48 Packard for sale. Daryl bought it and drove the car home. His interest in Packards started to take off after a fellow Packard enthusiast said, "Postwar Packards aren't worth shed room". Daryl decided then to find any Packard he could and bring it home. This Packard is currently not running, but well worth the needed love & attention to return it to its deserved glory.
